{Molly} Two Months

Stats: At today's appointment Molly weighed in at 11 pounds 7 ounces and measured 21 and 1/2 inches long...which puts her in the 50th percentile for weight and the 25th percentile for height. Her head was 15 and 1/4 inches round...which puts her in the 75th percentile.
Sizes: Molly is still wearing size 0-3 or 3 month clothing. And size 1 Pampers diapers.
Food: Molly is still on a strict booby milk (from the boob) diet. We've only given her a bottle twice (once at 3 weeks and the other at 7 weeks) but the two bottles she's taken...she's taken like a champ. I pump twice a day without fail. Once in the morning and once at night. I generally get 8-10 ounces/day for the freezer.
Routine: Molly's current routine is eating every 2-4 hours (during the day) and napping whenever she pleases (throughout the day). Although she generally takes a good 4 hour nap in the afternoon which I LOVE!!! I typically feed her between 9 and 10pm and then put her down for the night. She normally goes down pretty easy (but we do have our nights). I try to set her down not fully asleep...sometimes this works and sometimes not. Again just depends on the night. Lately (as in the last week) she'll sleep a good 8-10 hours at night. Which means I typically feed her between 6 and 7am. She is then up for a good hour before taking her first snooze of the day. She gets a bath every other day. And tummy/play mat time once or twice a day.
Developmental Milestones: Started smiling at 5 weeks. (First big smile was right after I told Molly that we were going to be BF's forever)!!! Started cooing at 6 and a half weeks. And is getting better and better at holding her head up (all by herself).
Loves: Molly loves her mama (like really really loves)!!! She loves her swing!!! She loves her car seat (pretty much without fail she falls asleep in it and stays asleep in it)!!! She loves any type of movement (like rocking)!!! She loves to be held tight to the body with her butt patted!!! She loves to be snuggled in a big fluffy blanket. And she loves to eat, poop, and toot!!!
Dislikes: Molly dislikes her arms to be swaddle in all night long. She dislikes the cold. (She'll smile throughout a bath but screams the moment she's out). And she dislikes a too wet diaper.
Other Things I Don't Want To Forget:
  • As much as Mason hated the swing is how much you LOVE the swing.
  • You had your first cold at 6 weeks but you were a trooper and didn't let it bother you much. But the nosefrida (aka...booger sucker) definitely made it easier for you to breathe.
  • You calm SO easily (for mama at least) and are SUCH an easy read. Your hunger cry is more of a whimper. You rarely scream when hungry...more often than not you just suck really loudly on your fist. If you continue whimpering after eating its because your tired. Sometime I try to put you back on the boob to be sure but if you pop on and off (the boob) I know you're just tired (and not hungry). And sure enough after wrapping you up and holding you sleepy-ville you go!!! Rarely do you scream...but if you do we know you're not happy about something =)
  • You have minor cradle cap so mommy puts oil in your hair after every bath.
  • You haven't lost any of your beautiful hair!!!
  • Mommy cut a few of your finger nails at 6 weeks.
  • Some weeks you go 4-5 days without pooping and other weeks you poop almost every day.
  • You've gotten a LOT better at burping. You seem to burp better sitting on my lap versus over my shoulder...(just like your big brother).
  • You still sleep in mommy and daddy's room in your rock and play sleeper.

Ten On Tuesday (Mason Style)

1. Last week Mason did NOT leave the house (Mon-Fri) at ALL. And on Saturday he left only to hit up the car wash with daddy. Instead of saying no ba bye...he now says stay home. Crazy kid!!! Guess he got his wish last week!!! And his wish is continuing this week. Mase woke up yesterday with a cough/runny nose so I didn't want to take him to my haircut (my hair stylist is in home and has a boy Mason's age) and then he spiked a temp yesterday afternoon so today's gym plans have been canceled too.

2. Like I mentioned in last week's TOT post...some friends from work came over last week Monday (to meet Molly). As you can tell from the below picture Mason really likes Caylen (and also does not know what personal space is!!!
 3. On Tuesday night we made brownies. Mason prefers the unbaked version...
4. Brian was at a church meeting. I was busy with Molly (trying to put her down for the night) tired mind you...when I walked into this...

5. Wednesday brought about more fun. Mase decided that my Tupperware cupboard needed to be emptied...
And that it needed to be impaled by his trucks...(which meant I had Tupperware all over my kitchen and dining room).
6. Mase also HATES his diaper to be changed. (As long as its not poop or leaking I leave him be). I walked into the kitchen and saw this...
Thinking its time to change the diaper don't you!?!

7. On this particular day he also refused to nap. But at 3:50 he HIT a wall...was crankier than all get out. Finally at 4:40 I put in a movie and 5 minutes later the kid was out cold. Oops...a 4:45pm nap pry isn't the best idea.

8. We love pajama days...
(Had to include a picture of my sweet Molly)!!!

9. Brian found Mason like this the other night...(right before tubby time)...
Yep he pretty much fell in the toilet. Brian took out his potty seat and told him to point his "peter" down...
He didn't pee or poop but he looks cute. Haha!!! And go figure since this episode he's back to refusing to sit on "his" potty.

10. Mason's favorite words...mine...I do...NO. Think we've hit the terrible twos ;) Oh and he likes...see yah...home... and dat one (that one) as well.

(Almost) Wordless Wednesday

Oops...forgot to post this yesterday...

Brian and I were in the kitchen on Sunday and we hear Mase screaming...STUCK...

Ten On Tuesday

1. Last week Wednesday I took Mase (and Molly) to the Byron Center library for toddler story time (because I heard it was good). And while it may have been a little better than Jamestown's (toddler story time) it was crazy packed and for what Mase gets out of it I would rather go to the library 2 minutes down the road that's way less busy. Plus Mase likes the toys better at our library. But on Wednesday when we went the librarian who runs the story time was honored as 91.3 WCSG's first ever hometown hero. So the station wanted a picture of Barb (the librarian) with all the kids. So of course I too snapped a pic!!!

Yes my kid was the only one with a bop in...

2. We loved For the Kidz Gym so much 2 weeks ago that we went back again last week. This time with cousin Austin (and Aunt Jana and grandma). Both boys had a BLAST (and didn't stop moving...hence the not so great photo below)!!!
After the gym grandma took the boys (and Molly, Jana, and I) to Wendy's for a little lunch. Upon leaving Wendy's Mason decided he did NOT want to sit in his car seat. So we sat in the parking lot for a good 10 minutes before I finally had had enough and man-handled him into his car seat. Because he was so naughty I didn't turn his DVD player on nor did I give him his bop.

But upon arriving at the car wash 10 minutes later I saw the line and turned his DVD player on and gave him his bop. No more than a minute later I turned around and saw this...

3. We had a very low key Valentine's Day this year. (Wait who am I kidding. We do every year)!!! The biggest difference from any other ole day is that I dressed the children in their Valentine best (and of course snapped a few pictures)!!!
Mason Dale
Molly Elayne
When Daddy got home they Mason opened both both his own and Molly's presents from both Brian and I and from my parents.
A Jake and the Never Land Pirates Seek and Find book, Cars wall decals, a shirt and some candy for Mase and a book, a camo bib, and a shirt for Molly.
He LOVES his decals! (And after this pic he put up about ten more)!!!
She wasn't in the mood for a picture.
And for dinner we ordered Marco's Pizza and just hung out as a family. Oh and fell asleep super early!!!

4. Mase has this thing lately about going "ba bye"...(as in he DOESN'T want to go) instead of the three of us heading over to grandma V's...grandma V (plus Cole and Brinley) came to us!!!
Brinley and Molly above and  Cole and Mason below...

5. On Saturday we went out on our first date night since Mols was born. We went to Bonefish Grill. (They have about the best Chicken Marsala ever). We went with two other couples. It's crazy how relaxing a meal can be without an infant and a toddler. After dinner Brian and I quick ran home so I could pump with plans to meet up (with the other two couples) at Hudsonville Winery. Well we did still meet up but with a baby in tow. Mols was a little fussy for gpa and gma so we decided to just take her with to the winery. (She slept the entire hour and a half we were there). Mols needed grandma and Mase wanted only grandma (he's not use to sharing her) so it was quite the three hours for gpa and gma. And since we took Mols Mason once again enjoyed having gpa and gma all to himself. Praying he transitions okay when I go back to work.

Laura, Me, and Jen

6. My grandpa was admitted to the hospital a few weeks ago and is now in a rehab place for a couple of weeks. We went to visit him last week (at the rehab place) and I just had to snap a picture of Mase chill-laxing on Old Papa's walker...

7. Mase got to take a tubby in the big tub last night...
Funny thing is the kid SCREAMED bloody murder because he didn't want to go in. (I knew he would have fun though so I may have forced him in). Then he SCREAMED bloody murder because he didn't want to get out. Can't figure him out!!!

8. All you who have little kids NEED to get the nosefrida (aka...the snot sucker). That is if you don't have it already. Best invention EVER!!! I held out for quite some time because I thought the concept was disgusting but its not disgusting...its brilliant. (And SO SO SO much better than the bulb syringe).

9. Two of my coworkers (along with their children) came over yesterday morning to meet little Molly girl. The four older kids all went downstairs to play so after a little bit one of the gals (Jen) went downstairs to check on them. She came up and said to the other coworker (Stacy) that Caylan was standing with his pants around his ankles asking for his mom. Stacy went downstairs and when she came back up she told me that Mason was downstairs sans diaper. So downstairs I went. Upon arriving in the basement I didn't see Mase at first but then saw Caylan in the bathroom. I went into the bathroom and saw Mase sitting on the toilet but with his feet (socks still on) IN the toilet. I had all I could do to not start laughing. Caylan informed me that that was NOT how he went to the bathroom. Oh Mase...what can I even say!!!

10. Is it bad that I finally took my Christmas wreath down on FEBRUARY 12. Cannot believe I left it up that long. Oh well just going to use Molly as my excuse!!!

Ten On Tuesday

1. I've said before that Mase has an obsession with bops. Well this pic proves it. He somehow wrangled three bops into his possession. (Not sure how since we typically only let him have one bop at a time...except for bed). His favorite thing to do when he has more than one bop is to test (aka...taste) them all.

2. Play mat pals. If Molly is on her mat...Mase needs to "sit" too...

3. This girl hates her arms swaddled in but I hate her hands being so cold during the night. My solution...

4. Mason got an excellent report from his ultrasound. They classified his right kidney as very mild (down from grade 2). So next year should be our last yearly ultrasound!!!

5. To much fun makes a girl tired...

6. I said in last week's TOT (Ten On Tuesday) post that I wouldn't be surprise if Mase soon figured out how to move the kitchen stools to get himself some candy. Well on Thursday he did. Fortunately he's not that smart because he did it with Brian and I also standing in the kitchen. But then on Friday he got a little smarter and while I was feeding Molly in my room I heard a scraping on the kitchen floor. Sure enough he was trying to get himself some candy. The little bugger. Looks like we will be moving the candy dish!!!

7. Mase has been MUCH better behaved lately but he's still not immune to tantrums every now and then. Last week Brian took him in (from playing outside) because he refused to put his mitten back on (they hinder play) and also because his cheeks were getting really rosy and chapped...and he threw a nice size tantrum. Of course I snapped a picture of him in the heat of the moment. He was telling me NO picture (in the pic below)...
He eventually chilled out and let me put his mitten back on (plus a scarf for the cheeks) he was then allowed to play some more outside with daddy.

8. (And tantrum take 2). Last week at Skyzone Mase was concerned about his cousins. He was busy asking me where his cousins were when bam out of no where this little girl bops him one. If you watch the video you will witness what I like to call a Mason Moment...(errrrr actually you will hear it)!!!

9. On Friday night we did another little family outing. This time to the mall. First we hit up Barnes and Noble. Then dinner in the food court (plus a carousal ride). Then the play area. Then Dicks (Sporting Goods). And we ended the night with some ice cream. While at the play area Molly started hooting. So I sat down to feed her on some nearby couches (and Brian stayed in the play area with Mase). This older guy sat down across from me while I was (breast) feeding Molly and not more than two minutes later he got up and left. Soon after Mase had to see what I was up to. I jokingly said to Brian that I made an old guy uncomfortable with my breast feeding. I was half joking but when I was done feeding her and walking to Dicks (to meet up with the boys) I saw the guy sitting on the couches in front of Dicks. Made me chuckle. Guess I did make him feel uncomfortable.

10. Molly went with me today to bring Papa (Vugteveen) to get a colonoscopy. She was SUCH a good girl. Slept from the moment we left our house until the moment we arrived back home...(7:45-12:00)!!! You better believe she was hungry when she woke up. (And thankfully my dad got an excellent report)!

Five On Friday

1. Mase (and Molly and I) have had a F-U-N week. The weather has been a might bit better so we've been able to get out almost every day!!! On Tuesday we went to toddler time at the Byron Center Community Center. We went with a neighbor and her two boys. (Mason loves hanging out with Levi and Silas). The gym was set up with tumblers, small trampolines, cones to run around, and balls of all sizes!!! And the best part was it only cost me $2.
Go figure he finds the one thing he is NOT suppose to play with.
Levi and Mase

2. On Wednesday I took Mase (and Molly) to toddler story and craft time at our local library. I was a little nervous (about the story part) but Mase did great. He didn't sit to listen per say but instead you could say he walked around (and listened). After the story time there was a craft. A very simple craft...a picture of a cactus, glue, and green rice. And then after the craft I let Mase play in the play area for another hour. The boy loves him his library!!!
Concentrating on a puzzle.
Playing with the choo choos.
Playing with the magnets.

3. On Thursday I took Mase (and Molly) to For The Kidz (a Gymnastics and Trampoline place). Again with my neighbor and her two boys. And oh what fun the boys had. This place was awesome. Long trampolines to run on, smaller tramps to jump on, a big ball pit to jump into and so much more. It was another toddler time (for kids 5 and under) and only $5 for an hour and a half of play.
Busy running!!!
Where's Mason...
My cutie

4. And then today we went to toddler time at Skyzone. (Toddler time at Skyzone is $7 for an hour of jumping for kids 5 and under). We went once back in November (with cousins) and had a good time despite the many rules. Today we went with two of my girlfriends and their boys...and had just an okay time because Skyzone's rules have become even more ridiculous. For example...they have a foam pit with 5 trampolines. Kids in tramps 1, 3, and 5 can jump at the same time and once they are out of the pit then tramps 2 and 4 can jump in. How can you have fun if you're only allowed in the pit for 2 seconds. Parents do sign a waiver so its not like were going to sue for a bruise on the head. And to top it off it seemed like every 2 seconds either Mason and Rhys were getting yelled at...either for jumping on tramps that were closed or playing with some balls they happened to find. Needless to say I will not be going back anytime soon. Not if I have to "yell" at my kid every 2 seconds. Afterwards we picked up some lunch and headed over to my friend Rach's house to play for a bit...that was more fun (and free)!!!
Mason jumping =)

5. The best part about all these outings is that Mase asks for his nap every day. And he sleeps a SOLID three hours. Ahhhh!!!
