Four Month Appointment

Molly had a great 4 month check-up yesterday!!! She is as healthy as can be. Praise the Lord!!! She weighed in at 14 pounds 3 ounces (60th percentile) and 24 and 1/16th inches long (40th percentile). (I estimated in the low 14 range so mama was RIGHT on)!!! This puts her a WHOLE 3 pounds less than what Mase was at 4 months.

I had some very minor concerns/questions about her eye drainage, cradle cap, and yeasty looking neck fold area. First her eye might have drainage til 9 or 10 months. If it's not cleared up by then we will be refered to an opthamologist. (Praying it clears before we even get to this point). The opthamologist would then decide if she needs surgery to open up the vessel to help the drainage get out. We have plently of time for it to clear and you better believe this mama is praying for IT TO CLEAR!!! As for the cradle cap Dr. M said that could last up to a year as well (oh joy). I'm just thankful she has a minor case of cradle cap. He said to use the Selsun Blue shampoo 2-3 times a week...otherwise stick with baby shampoo. And he said if the nystatin cream is making her neck look better (I think it is) then to keep using it 2-3 times a day for 2 weeks.

In other news...
  • Doc thought her head looked great!!! YEA!!! (At Mason's 4 month appointment we were referred to MFB (for the helmet)...SO thankful we do not have to go down that road with Miss Molly).
  • Doc said that a new study has come out about when to start feeding (as in baby food/cereal) and the new recommendation is to start at 4 months. So as soon as I buy some barley cereal (and baby food) we will start down that road. Not really in a rush though. I guess starting kids later versus earlier makes NO difference with them developing allergies. So now they say to start early (so kids get the concept down). My doctor said to feed her once a day until she hits 6 months.
  • And finally the poor girl was a trooper with her shots. She got 4 shots plus an oral immunization. She immediately screamed bloody murder after her pokes (and was a might bit difficult to calm) but once she did she cashed right out for 3 and a half hours. Bless her little heart. After her 3.5 hour nap she woke to feed and for some tylenol and then went right back to sleep. Woke once more to eat (at 8:30pm) and was then out for the night.

{Molly} Four Months

Stats: Will update after her 4 month well-child check up which is on Monday!!! But for guessing sake...I'm thinking on the low side of 14 pounds.

*Update on 4.29.14...At yesterday's appointment Molly weighed in at 14lbs 3oz (putting her in the 60th percentile for weight) and she measured 24 and 1/16in long (putting her in the 40th percentile for height). And her head circumference was 16 inches (putting her in the 60th percentile).
Sizes: Molly is wearing size 3-6 or 6 month. About a week and a half after she hit 3 months I decided to switch out her closest. OUT were the 0-3 and 3 month clothing and IN were the 3-6 and 6 month!!! Molly is wearing size 2 Pampers diapers.
Food: The 5 days I am home with Molly I still feed on demand...every 2-4ish hours. The 2 days I work she generaly takes four 3.5-4oz bottles of breastmilk from the freezer. And sometimes Brian gives her some of my pumped breastmilk (from my morning pumping session) if she needs a little more. Occasionally I will breastfeed her when I get home just depends on when she last ate. On my non-working days I pump once or twice...just depends on how full I feel. Sometimes I pump just in the morning. Sometimes I pump just at night. Sometimes I pump both morning and night. On my working days I pump once in the morning before leaving for work, three times at work, and if I don't feed Molly when I get home then I pump right before bed. I generally put about 30 ounces in the freezer from my combined pumping sessions.
Routine: Molly's routine hasn't changed much since last month. She normally goes to bed around 8:30 or 9pm. And wakes to eat in the 4 o'clock hour. She then falls back to sleep until 7:30 or 8am. Eats shortly after getting up and every 2-4 hours throughout the rest of the day. She is up for a hour and a half and then takes her first nap. Often we are running to be somewhere by 10 so this nap gets cut short (more often than not) but thankfully she'll conk right back out in her car seat! She typically takes a nice afternoon nap and a cat nap (45 mins or less) in the evening. Obviously there are slight variations every day but for the most part this is her routine. She definitely had a growth spurt around 15 weeks because she was waking for her paci once and needed to be fed twice a night. So thankful to be back at just one feeding and NO paci wake-up calls!!!
Developmental Milestones: Molly can sit for short periods of time with her boppy wrapped around her (before she timbers forward). The girl is always trying to sit herself up. She is a big time gabber/cooer. Pretty sure she is going to be a jabber mouth (like her momma)!!! And she is LOUD!!! Mason often says Mowee is loud. Get use to it Mase...its only going to get worse the older she gets!!! She loves to grab hold of her toys and suck the living daylights out of them. And man oh miskins is she a drooler. (Case in point...look at the picture under Food and the 3rd picture under Loves where she is wearing a bib).
Loves: Molly loves sucking on her fingers. Molly loves her tongue!!! Molly loves her mommy!!! Her daddy!!! And her big brother!!! She (almost always) instantly smiles the moment she sees one of us after waking from a nap or if were just getting home from work. She loves to talk (or just likes to hear the sound of her voice)!!!
About a week ago I looked back at Mason's 4 month post to see what he liked at this age. He was big into his links and oball ball. Which we hadn't given to her yet. He loved watching videos on Brian's iPhone and we really hadn't/havn't done much of that (with Molly) either. Nor has she laid eyes on her Fisher Price Rainforest Waterfall Peek-a-boo Soother. Feeling behind the eight ball this go around I look out her links!!! And as you can tell she loves them!!!
Dislikes: To be honest I cannot think of anything right off hand that Molly dislikes. She is a really laid back go with the flow happier than all get out kinda baby.
Other Things I Don't Want To Forget:
  • I cannot say enough what a HApPy (smiley) baby you are!!! More often than not when you wake in the morning (or from a nap) you don't make a peep. I just have to keep checking on you. Once in awhile I hear you cooing but rarely do you cry. You must be a morning person like your mama (use to be)!!!
  • Your nursery was repainted from yellow to gray with a pink/gray chevron wall!!! And grandma H bought you new bedding. She said a girl has to have some pink!!!
  • I was getting SO sick of your cradle cap so I finally caved and bought some Selsun Blue shampoo. Oh my goodness what a difference it has made!!! Wish I would have done it a month earlier when Dr. Stransky recommended it. I was hesitant because he said I could NOT get it in your eyes. Made me a little nervous. Thankfully mommas done good thus far!!!
  • Just like your brother you're starting to get a rash (thinking yeast since it looks exactly like Mason's did) in your neck fold. Praying it doesn't last 2.5 months like it did with Mase. Shouldn't since as of yesterday I started putting prescription nystatin cream on it (leftover from Mase).
  • You love to sleep with your hands folded in what I call prayer hands.
  • You started noticing your brother just after you hit 3 months.
  • You celebrated your first Easter.
  • You LOVE pulling your paci out and then "trying" to put it back in.
  • You started taking naps in your crib this month!!!

  • You were given a tag blanket as a gift this month. Mommy gives it you ALL the time. (Hoping for a blanket lover)!!! Actually I started giving it to you because I am worried how your big bro will do when we take away his "bops" (they are his only security "blanket" during naps and at night). Hoping that if you're a blanket lover it won't be so hard on you when we take away your paci's (in the very far away future).
  • We moved you into your room on April 2. Oh did Mommy sleep good that night. A week or so later you came back into our room for a few nights because papa was painting your room (and mommy didn't want you with the fumes). Back to your room you went 3 nights later only to return for a few more nights while papa finished painting your chevron wall. As much as I love you right beside me I love you being in your own room even more.

Easter 2014

Here's how Easter morning started...during a first thing Sunday morning diaper change Mason saw his Easter basket present (sitting in Molly's crib) and wanted to open it ASAP. I told him not until he was showerd and dressed. He gave me a fight but I won. (Mommy always wins)!!! He was so excited opening his gift that he didn't have time to smile for the camera...until he started throwing the tissue paper at me that is.
Couldn't pick just one...beautiful baby girl in her Easter best.
And then my morning got a little more chaotic. I had warned Brian all week that under NO circumstance was he to give Mase a chocolate donut after church. So when I heard an "oh shoot" BEFORE church come out of Brian's mouth I said...WHAT?!? And then I saw. Mason's white polo shirt had blue spit running down the front...(cotton candy he decided he didn't like from his Easter bag). SOOO NOT awesome. I tried to rub stain remover on it but it wasn't cutting it so into the wash machine it went. Thankfully he tested out his cotton candy at 8:30 in the morning....leaving me plenty of time to get it washed and mostly dried.
I wanted a picture before church because it gets a bit crazy at my parent's house plus I wanted a clean shirt. With limited time this is what I got. He didn't want sis "by" him because she was going to spit on him. Where he got that idea I have NO idea. Hence why his lip is quivering in the picture below.
After church we headed over to my parent's house for a delious ham meal (with all the Easter fixings) and for the beloved Easter egg hunt. The kids were SO excited they could hardly contain themselves. We couldn't find one of Mason's shoes and everyone was teasing him that the hunt was going to start without him which sent him into a tizzy. Thankfully we found it just in time ;)

The Hunters...
Back: Addisyn, Austin, Kylynn, and Cambrey
Front: Brinley, Easton, Cole, and Mason

The NON-Hunters...Molly and Connor
To add to my day Molly decided to poop through her (white) diaper cover and onto my white pants right after eating. She must have wanted to add a little more excitement to my day!!!
Mason kept giving Austin ALL his eggs...and Austin was happy to comply!!!
After a trip to the park (my parent's backyard backs up to an Elementary School) we headed home for naps. After naps grandpa and grandma Helmholdt came over for a light supper and lots of outdoor play. So thankful it was SUCH a beautiful day!!!

Ten On Tuesday

1. A trip out to Holland (to Gap Outlet) meant a visit to the ducks...
Mason loved "feeding" the ducks. His feed was sticks and stones...poor ducks.

2. Mason refused to nap after our trip out to Holland...(something he's been doing on occasion as of late) so go figure on our way to the mall later that night (a mere 10 minute drive) he cashed right out...
We went to the mall so daddy could have some peace and quiet to grid out the chevrons for Molly's room. We met grandma H to hit up Younkers (coupons in hand). After Younkers grandma treated Mase to a carousel ride and an "airplane" ride...
We parted ways with grandma but since we still had some more time to kill we headed to Kohl's. Wouldn't you know we ran into Grandma V. We shopped some more and then grandma treated Mase to a pretzel before we headed home. One spoiled little boy by two grandmas who love him oh so much!!!

3. Call us crazy but last week a friend and I drove an hour and a half (well she drove two) to meet another friend in New Buffalo, Michigan. (The other friend lives in a Chicago suburb. She too had to drive a little over two hours). We chatted (kid free)!!! for just under three hours and then all drove home. Crazy maybe. Worth it...YES!!! Love my two bestest college buddies!!!

4. On Saturday morning Mase took part in the annual Hudsonville (Huges Park) Easter egg hunt. He so badly wanted to start before the whistle blew. Kept saying ready...set...GO. He was quite mad we wouldn't let him. Then when the whistle finally blew it scared the ba-jeebies out of him. So much so that he pretty much refused to "hunt" for eggs. He ended up with a mere 10 egss. Oh well...there's always next year!!!
Three of his ten!!!

5. Mason enjoying his first outside ride on his "new" ride...

6. Came into my room and saw this...
LOVE!!!

7. I finished feeding Molly one day and walked into the kitchen and saw this. I almost crapped my pants. I thought he was standing in a drawer.
Thankfully he was not...
He's getting a little slap happy moving that chair around. Not only does he use it to get to his "drums" (aka...the silverware)...he also uses it to get to the candy jar.

8. I was trying to take Molly's picture and Mase wanted to cheese too. Easy does it boy!!!
Much better. Oh I love these two!!!

9. Nicer weather means Mason gets to hang out with his bestest neighor friends...Adryana and Blake.
These three have so much fun together!!!

10. I gave this outfit to my niece Brinley when she was born. Love that my little girl gets to wear it now!!!

Molly's REdecorated Room

After Molly was born my mother-in-law kept asking if I wanted to redo Molly's room. I didn't think it was neccesary but when she asked for the third time I thought...why not!?! So a huge thanks to my mother-in-law (and father-in-law) for purchasing the paint, new bedding, diaper stacker, hamper, and toy bin, to my hubby for doing all the measuring work for the chevron wall, and to my father-in-law for painting her room. I am in LOVE with how it turned out!!!
View from the closet.

Close ups...
Mommy and Daddy with each of our four precious babes!!! Don't mind the fact that the hubby did NOT hang them in correct birth order! (Ella and Alayna on top and Molly and Mason on bottom).

Another close up.
