{Mason} Four Years Old

Stats: Mason's 4 year well child check up isn't until January 5 but based on my scale Mase weighs 38 pounds. (I'll update his stats after his appointment).
*UPDATE: Mason weighed 37 pounds and 2 ounces. (50th%). And measured 40.75 inches tall. (60th%).
Sizes: Mason is wearing 4/4T/XS clothing. Size 4T underwear. And size 10 shoes.
Food: Mason is still what I would consider a picky eater but what he does like he really likes. Breakfast faves are cereal, PB and jelly toast, waffles, pancakes, and french toast sticks. I should have just said Mason likes all breakfast foods (except eggs). He loves ALL meat. He dislikes ALL dairy (except ice cream) and he definitely dislikes ALL vegetables. As for fruit he likes grapes, apples, and strawberries. (And recently raspberries). Other fave foods include pizza, bread sticks, pickles, granola bars, PB and jelly balls, PB and jelly sandwiches, fruit snacks, chocolate, and candy. And lastly he mostly drinks chocolate milk or water but does like juice and pop.
Routine: Mason typically wakes between 7:30 and 8am. Does NOT nap 97% of the time. And goes to bed around 9pm but doesn't typically fall asleep until 10 or later.
Loves:  Mason loves chewing on ice. Loves his Cars cars. Loves Spiderman and Batman!!!  Loves the Avengers (Hulk, Thor, Captain America, Ironman, and Hawk). Loves Mario. Loves iPhones and tablets. Loves playing with his cousins and neighbors (and friends). Loves playing with Legos and play doh. Loves baseball. And loves to wrestle.
Dislikes: Going to bed. And veggies.
Other Things I Don't Want To Forget:
  • You love playing with your bestest neighborhood pals Adryanna and Blake. You guys have so much fun together and you see a LOT of each other since we live right next door. It will be sad when one of us moves away.
  • You also love playing with ALL your cousins. But especially Cole. In the summer we go to Aunt Courtney's house/pool at least once a week and during the school year we have gone/go to Grandma's house {pretty much} every Thursday (when she's babysitting Cole and Brinley).
  • You started Awana this fall. You absolutely LOVE it. And mommy and daddy LOVE seeing you blossom through it.
  • You started KidZone (Little Lambs) at church last Janurary. (Right after turning 3). You love going and all the teachers say what a nice little boy you are. You listen. You sing. And you have fun praising Jesus!!!
  • You became a big brother again this year!!! And lets just say you were only a wee bit ecstatic that it was a brother this go around.
  • You got your first (3...eek) cavities filled. And you had your first eye exam done. (Your vision is 20/20!!!
  • You went to your first (and second) movie(s) in the big theater. The first time with Grandma, Aunt Courtney, Cambrey, Cole, and Brinley. And the second time with mom and dad. And you went bowling for the first, second, and third times. Big surprise you loved it.
  • You went deer watching AND deer hunting for the first times as well this year. You loved deer watching (because you saw lots of deer). You fell asleep deer hunting (and whined a lot per daddy) because you didn't see any deer. Basically you were bored to sleep.
  • You stopped napping in May. It was a sad SAD day that turned into a sad week that turned into a sad month that turned into a {you fill in the blank}. You do quiet time instead. Although I wouldn't say you're always too quiet during your quiet time.
  • We got rid of you bop (finally) at 3.5 years of age. You were still obsessed with it. We tried limiting it to only bedtime but you were always sneaking it so I slowly started cutting it instead. Within a week of the first cut you were over it. Surprisingly things like potty training and bop taking away went easier with you than I expected.
  • Some of your favorite phrases are "you're the BEST mom ever"..."it was an accident mom and accidents happen"..."I love you mom/dad."
  • You still take Singular every morning.
  • You did year 2 of swim lessons with Miss Rita. It wasn't as traumatic as last year but for whatever reason when May of this past year hit you pretty much have refused to swim. Hoping this changes this coming year.
  • You still need help wiping your butt after a poop.
  • You have your own iPhone...thanks to a friend of daddys. It has no data though so you can't place phone calls and wifi only works at our house.
  • You are obsessed with baseball, Mario, Spiderman, and the Avengers. (I know I already put this under the Loves category but these things needed a second mentioning)!!!
  • You dislike being the "driver" you prefer being a passenger...when driving the big power wheels.
  • You're super competitive.
  • You're favorite color is RED.
  • You want to be Mario when you grow up!!!
  • You refuse to ride a bike. You prefer your red Little Tykes motorcycle instead.
  • Molly joined you in your room in July. And for whatever reason you were not a fan. You wanted to be back in our bed. After awhile mommy and daddy's bed just wasn't big enough for the three of us so we put your sleeping bag at the foot (on the ground) of our bed and you sleep in it all comfy and cozy all night long. We tried moving you back to your room when we switched Crew and Mols around (in November). You were super excited to share with Crew but when he woke you up at 2am you weren't such a fan anymore. Hoping once Crew sleeps through the night to move you back into your bed and bedroom. (You also refused to sleep in the bedroom downstairs).

{Molly} Two Years

Stats: Molly's TWO year old well-child check up isn't until January 5. But according to my scale she weighs a whopping 24.5 pounds. I'll update with what the doctor's scale says on the 5th...along with her height and percentiles.
*UPDATE: Molly weighed 23 pounds 8 ounces. (25th%). And measured 33.5 inches tall. (50th%)
Sizes: Molly has been wearing 2T clothing since the fall. It started off being a wee bit big but it fits her nicely now. She is wearing a size 6 in the shoe department and a size 4 in the diaper (Kirkland brand) department.
Food: Molly is (I swear) the world's pickiest eater. Your fave foods are candy, chocolate, fruit snacks, and anything snacky. Real health nut ;). You love drinkable yogurt smoothies, shredded cheese, PB and jelly balls and chocolate milk. You don't care for white milk so we mix your white milk with instant carnation in the morning and Nesquick powder any other time. Sometime late summer/early fall I got sick of buying Vitamin D (for you) and 1% (for the rest of us) so I just switched you to 1% as well. The only fruit you'll eat (and you love these three fruits) are grapes, strawberries, and apples. You dislike all vegetables. And besides chicken nuggets you don't like meat. You love eating cereal (although most of it hits the floor), french toast sticks, or waffles in the morning. Occasionally you gobble up your breakfast but most mornings it sits there all day long and you munch on it throughout the day. You love Capri Suns and Gatorade (juicy) but mostly drink water or chocolate milk.
Routine: For most of the last year Molly woke typically between 7:30 and 8am but as of the last couple months it's been more like 6:30-7am. Molly goes down for a nap around 1:30/2 or if she's really pushing buttons at 1 and sleeps for 2 hours. Randomly we'll get a three hour day and oh how I LOVE those three hour days!!! Molly from January thru April went to bed at 7pm. From May to June at 9pm. From July to mid November 8pm. And from mid November til present we try for 8:30 but with all her walk back outs she pry doesn't actually fall asleep until 9/9:30. Her bedtime routine until early December included...brushing her teeth, then sitting in the rocking chair reading Tickle Time (her fave book) and a Bible story, and finally saying her prayers. Then she got tucked in with her B and bop and I would hit Violet (her LeapFrog doggie's) foot so it would play 5 minutes of music and as I left the room I turned her fan on. Now she brushes her teeth, I sing Rock-A-Bye Molly to her, say her prayers, and tuck her in with her bop and B, hit Violet's paw, and turn her fan on. And then she comes out what feels like a million times before she finally falls asleep.
Loves: Molly loves shoes. Molly loves her B (blankie). Molly loves her bops (pacis). Molly loves watching EIEIO and Surprise Eggs on iPhones. Molly loves (adores) her Cammie (big cousin Cambrey) who carries her all over the place. Actually Molly loves all her cousins. I just asked her who loves her (you would think she would say MOMMY but no) she said Cole, Binley, Eton, and Connor too. Molly loves brushing her teeth. Molly loves having her toes painted. Molly loves tubby time. And Molly loves screaming (mad or excited).
Dislikes: Molly despises her face being wiped 99% of the time. Napping 50% of the time. And going to bed like a good girl 100% of the time. She also isn't always a fan of getting her picture taken. Oh and she doesn't like veggies.

Other Things I Don't Want To Forget:
  • First and foremost you became a BIG sister (at 19 months)!!!
  • When Crew was first born you called him baby as Mason's name was already brother. Then around 21 months of age you started calling them by their names {Mason and Crewsers}.
  • You adore...absolutely ADORE your little brother. When Crew was first born you were in his face ALL.THE.TIME giving him kisses, wanting to hold him, and trying to lift him by yourself. Thankfully you've toned it down the last couple of months. But you do still LOVE giving Crewsers kisses.
  • You're favorite phrases/words include...stop it, NO, and [insert name] go to time out.
  • You are obsessed with shoes. Always always trying any and everybody's shoes on. If a shoe is missing its most likely because of you.
  • You've gone through many MANY phases over the last 6 months. For a time you hated (despised) your hair being brushed but now you don't mind it (most of the time). For a time you stole Crew's bop (paci) every chance you got. Actually you would steal bops out of EVERYONE'S mouths every chance you got. But thankfully you've been much better about that lately too. You went through a hitting phase (around 21 months). Nipped that one in the butt by putting you in time out for every hit (that was exhausting). PTL we made it the other side of that phase. Def my least favorite phase.
  • You have one volume and its LOUD. You also enjoy talking NONSTOP.
  • You wipe your face with you blanket all.the.time. It increases in intensity when you're tired.
  • From 18-21 months we rocked you for 5-15 minutes before bed. Violet was our time clock. 1 click for 5 minutes, 2 clicks for 10 minutes, and 3 clicks for 15 minutes. More often than not the rocker HAD.TO.BE mommy.
  • You enjoy reading books, copying EVERYTHING (and I mean everything) Mason does, playing outside, climbing, and swinging/hanging from things.
  • You don't really like watching T.V...although occasionally you ask for Mickey.
  • You really don't have any interests or specific toys you like to play with.
  • When you're really excited about something you squeal.
  • You moved into Mason's room on July 18 in prep for the new baby who would for a short time take over your room. Initially you adjusted great to Mase's room. But come early November you were waking 3-4 times a night so on November 12 we moved you back into your bed. And in no time you were sleeping through the night again. (Well for a short time that is).
  • You first started climbing out of your crib just before 22 months. At first you only climbed out during "play" never for naps, bedtime, or time outs. (Yes, we use your crib for time outs). But then that changed just before 23 months so on November 24 your crib became a toddler bed. No use in you getting hurt always climbing out. You adjusted very well to your toddler bed. Or so it seemed. About a week later you were (and still do) constantly climb out of your bed and act as if we never put you to bed. You were such an amazing go to bedder and now you're a terrible TERRIBLE go to bedder.
  • Your car seat was turned around at 19 months because it didn't fit backwards in our mini-van's back seat. (You and Mase got moved to the back just before Crew's arrival).
  • Not sure WHY but you poop in the tubby all.the.time. Poor Mase. Seriously it's like an addiction for you.
  • Your favorite color is BLUE.
  • You are our Sassy Strong-Willed Spitfire and we LOVE you to death baby girl!!!

Ten On Thursday

1. She asked for an apple. Obviously it would be the logical choice to take THEE biggest one.
2. Three {cute} babies in a Costco basket...
3. Bowling (a few days early) in "celebration" of Mason's birthday. The kid LOVES to bowl!!!
4. And believe it or not...he bowls just as good (if not better) than I do. You see that strike on frame 7 and those spares on frames 5 and 10. He scored a whopping 96 and he's only 3!!! My best score was a 96 that day too...so yes he bowls just.as.good.as.his.momma!!!
5. Girlfriend bought herself a gate for her frequent get ups after being put down for naps and bedtime...and for her middle of the night visits. Thankfully its seems to be helping the issue!!!
6. Ready to try some food (cereal) for the very first time.
7. Their Sunday before Christmas gift.
8. Baking and decorating Christmas cookies {the cheating way}. Instead of baking and making everything from scratch I bought everything premade. Shh don't tell!

Ten On Tuesday

1. Went to Meijer last week Monday. It's oh SO much fun to take three littles. {NOT}. But I made it fun for them so thankfully they behaved!!! First stop was returning pop cans.
2. Second stop was to see the fish.
3. Third stop was grabbing a few groceries.
4. Fourth stop was checking out the TOY aisles.
5. And the fifth stop (after paying) was riding Sandy. Molly declined hence no picture of her. And for behaving they got to pick out ONE piece of candy to split (from the check out lane) and they got a slushie to share.
6. Happiest of Birthdays to my almost 2 year old and my almost 4 year old. Ready to head over to G&G Helmholdt's house for their birthday party.

Ten On Thursday

1. We LOVE Thursdays at Grandpa and Grandma's house!!! How many grands can grandma snuggle!?!
2. We (the kids and I along with grandma) went to the mall and did EVERYTHING a kid could love. (And yes that would mean we did NOT shop). They "drove" a car...
3. Visited with Santa (for the second time)...
4. Rode the carousel. (Sorry for the terrible quality photos and lack of smiles)...
5. And they "rode" the escalator. So.Much.Fun!!! To end our fun MALL day we ate lunch at Panera and the kids each got a quarter. Mase for his beloved gumball and Mols for Mike and Ikes. The only fun thing we didn't do was the play area.
6. Mase helped me bake some Christmas cookies for our first Christmas Party  of 2015.
7. Building with Lincoln Logs (Mase's Christmas present from Old Papa). We're trying (its a work in progress) to foster some independence and imagination. Because at almost 4 years of age Mase still wants US to build EVERYTHING for him.
8. Four month well child check up for this sweet miracle this week. He's my my 15 pound 5 ounces 24 and 1/4th inch chunky monkey. Oh.my.WORD.I.love.this.lil.BOY!!!
9. During quiet time one afternoon he decides to "get comfy" behind the couch.
10. Transformed her crib into a toddler bed and now she is the world's worst go to bedder. {HUGE sigh}. She peeks around the corner. And just plays dead. Or just keeps walking out as if we never put her to bed. Not sure which method I dislike more. Pictured is the former method.
